  21. with two TrumpcardPros (A4000 & A3000) and a GrandSlam (A2000).  I don't 
  22. seem to recall whether the Vector was TrumpcardPro-compatible.  I mention 
  23. this because I had to upgrade the Trumpcard/GrandSlam ROMs when using 
  24. AmigaDOS 2.1 (everything seems to work fine with AmigaDOS 3.0 on the A4000).

  26. However, what you seem to be experiencing may have nothing to do with the 
  27. Vector itself as it may have more to do with your cables or in what order 
  28. your SCSI devices are daisy chained.  Try experimenting by switching 
  29. devices around (while everything is powered-down, of course) and/or take 
  30. notes while romoving then adding various combination of devices one at a 
  31. time.

  33. Also, check your terminators!!!  I recommend replacing internal 
  34. terminators with external types whenever you use external devices!!!

  42. Hmmm...since you didn't mention TCUtils, the software toolkit for the 
  43. TrumpcardPro, perhaps the Vector isn't compatible with the TrumpcardPro 
  44. SCSI network at all - I seem to recall this being the case.  Again, 
  45. assuming that you didn't have problems until you added a new device, try 
  46. moving things around and take notes.

  48. For example, last week I moved my system to a new office and noticed an 
  49. intermitent problem with one of my partitions.  When I went to backup my 
  50. data, my script handled the partition on the C= (A300) controller but it 
  51. reported checksum errors and halted when it started on the IVS network.

  53. Eventually, all I did was to re-route the cables from A2000->A3000<-A4000 
  54. to A2000->A4000<-A3000 with a C= (Caliper) tape drive in the loop.  I 
  55. have an old (44Mb) SyQuest drive that I avoid using because it tends to 
  56. cause problems, especially when formatting cartridges!!! :-(

  62. FWIW, I had to disable the autoboot option on the Trumpcard in my A3000 
  63. and use the internal C= (2091) controller to select AmigaDOS or UNIX on a 
  64. drive containing boot partitions for both.  I seem to recall doing this 
  65. because the TrumpcardPro prevented boot options for the A2091 from 
  66. appearing.  Also, consider *WHERE* your partition is booting from.  I try 
  67. to avoid booting from removable partitions primarily due to "VooDoo" 
  68. problems with the SyQuest.
